Toastmasters Open House Feb. 28

February is Toastmasters Month.

This is a time to celebrate the longstanding Toastmasters International program (est. Oct. 1924) and our own club Cranbrook First Toastmasters #3532, (chartered March, 1973).

We want you to know what Toastmasters can do for you so Cranbrook First Toastmasters will be hosting an Open House meeting on February 28. We welcome anyone who would like to learn how Toastmasters can support you to become a better speaker and leader.

Toastmasters has introduced a new educational program entitled Pathways. This innovative program uses online and hands on instruction to enable participants to expand speaking and leadership skills. To ease your mind we will not ask you to present anything unless you want to. We can introduce you to the group and will ask if you want to participate in Table Topics.

If you are a former Toastmaster or have taken youth learn to speak programs like the Sweetheart program, 4-H or Air Cadet effective speaking and are 18 and older consider joining us at the Open House.

Our regular Toastmasters meetings are the second and fourth Thursdays of the month held at the College of the Rockies in Cranbrook.

On February 14, our regular meeting date, we will be attending the play “Amigo’s Blue Guitar.” One of our Toastmasters is in the play so we are going to support Kathleen the cast and crew of this play. We encourage the community to support our local community theatre as this play has the components of humor, information and emotion and will leave you thinking.

If you are interested in politics and running for office, be a better communicator with training and practice. If you are an instructor, improve your presentation skills by getting constructive feedback in a safe environment. If you are a student that needs to give a presentation to your class, build your confidence and vocal volume with the help of our evaluations.

If you are a family member having to speak at a wedding or funeral Toastmasters can help you find your voice to share your message.

If you are on a committee and need to know how to conduct meetings you will learn this through attending our meetings. If you are interested in taking your speech to the next level there is an opportunity to enter the International Speech Contest by starting at the club level, area contest, division contest, region and so on. Cranbrook has produced contestants at the International level in past years.

Toastmasters:  COTR, room 232, the second and fourth Thursdays of the month, 7-9 p.m.

We cover impromptu speaking; have a networking break for 10 minutes and present prepared speeches. Join us at the Open House meeting on February 28. Arrive before 7 p.m. so we can help you get settled in before the meeting starts.
