Unfounded weapons complaint at mall

On January 13, at 4:30 p.m., Cranbrook RCMP received a report of a two males with guns entering the Tamarack Mall at 1500 Cranbrook Street N, Cranbrook.

An immediate tactical plan was engaged as general duty members rushed to the location.

Responding members quickly determined the reported males were uniformed security personnel engaged in their routine duties.

Cranbrook RCMP would like to assure the public who witnessed the response their safety was not at risk.

“Unaware of the eventual outcome, the responding members once again were prepared to put the safety of the community above their own” said Detachment commander S/Sgt. Barry Graham.

Cranbrook RCMP would also like to remind the public to safely yield to all emergency vehicles with lights and /or sirens activated to ensure the quickest and safest response.
