Upcoming at Cranbrook Arts

In mid-July we had a lot of fun with Colleen’s Kid’s Camp for painters and Yvonne’s Beading Workshop at Cranbrook Arts. Now we move into August with some different events.

First we have Colleen’s Kid’s Camp Days with fabric and wool creations running August 14-18. The cost is $30 a day and times are 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Please register soon as we can only take seven participants each day.

Also in August is “Four days of Creating with Josie.” August 22 is Personalized Picture Frames and August 23 is Picasso Portraits. The following week on August 29 is Nature’s Wind Chimes and the 30th is Emily Carr Tree Collage. The cost is $30 a day and times are 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Please register your young people early for these events as we run out of spaces quickly. Check out our Cranbrook Arts webpage and Facebook for more details.

Once the kids are back in school we focus again on the adults. September 16 is our third Felting Workshop with Barb Guillen. This time we’ll be creating felt and silk scarves; the cost is $70 for the day and all supplies are included. On Saturday, September 30, we have a one-day Mixed Media Journaling workshop with artist Tara Mercer. The cost is $40 for the day and all supplies are included. October 15-17 is a three-day workshop with artist Mirja Vahala titled “The Joy of Light and Composition.” The price for the 3 days is $325.

The Gallery and Gift Shop have been very busy since the beginning of summer. We are meeting tourists from all over the world looking to take mementos of Cranbrook home with them. Local folks are purchasing one of a kind wedding presents – it is the season after all! We have lots of great gift ideas and all of them are created by local artisans.

This month’s “Faces of Canada” gallery exhibition has been very popular and well attended. August’s exhibition will focus on our “Local Landmarks.”  Please stop in and have a look at some exceptional local artists’ work.

Check for more information about our workshops and exhibits on the Cranbrook Arts Webpage and Facebook, or visit us at 1013 Baker Street, Cranbrook.
