Updates on city road work

2nd Street South Project

Mackay Contacting will be closing traffic on 10th Avenue South this week to complete work in the intersection.

Additionally, 10th Avenue from 1st Street and 3rd Street will be designated as ‘no through’ and ‘local traffic only.’ The contractor will be working hard to complete the work within the intersection as quick as possible. The city thanks everyone for their patience as this work is completed.

Paving on 2nd Street from 14th Avenue up to the intersection of 10th Avenue will be completed today; expect this area to be back open to traffic fully starting tomorrow.

24th Avenue South from 2nd Street North to 2nd Street South

Crews will be working Monday and Tuesday prepping 24th Avenue (pictured above) for paving to begin on Wednesday, July 12. Traffic control is onsite and directing traffic efficiently to the hospital, priority is to the emergency vehicles. For personal vehicles traveling with urgent emergent patients please “honk your vehicles horn” continuously to notify traffic control personnel of your emergency.

Please respect and obey all signage and direction of flaggers. It is so important for drivers to be aware of their presence. Please slow down to give these personnel the space they need to be safe.

The City of Cranbrook is committed not only to the safety of the public but to the safety of our staff. Thank you for remembering their safety as well as your own as you drive through construction zones.

The city appreciates the patience and understanding of the public as this road work is completed.
