Water main flushing program begins June 11

Water utility customers can expect to experience some water discolouration periodically over the next couple of months, as the City of Cranbrook begins its annual water main flushing program on Monday June 11 .

Flushing will happen between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday to Friday for the duration of the program.

The city will begin flushing the main trunk line from pressure reducing station #1 above Park Royal Monday, which will impact most water customers in Cranbrook on Monday, June 11 and Tuesday, June 12, especially businesses and restaurants located along Highway 3.

Any businesses using municipal water in ice making or that provides laundry services like hotels and laundromats are recommended to make alternate arrangements until the trunk flushing is completed late Tuesday.

Most customers may experience discolouration in the water for a short period while this flushing work is done. If you do have discolouration, please run your coldwater tap until the water runs clear. This discolouration is not a public health concern.

The flushing program is done each year to ensure water mains are clear of sediment in order to provide the best water quality possible to your home and business. The city will provide updates regularly so you know where the flushing program is moving to next.

The City of Cranbrook appreciates the patience and understanding of our residents and businesses as this important program is completed.
