Water Quality Advisory coming March 2

The City of Cranbrook is reminding residents about an upcoming Water Quality Advisory.

Water crews from the Public Works Department, along with contractor Pure Technologies, will be inspecting the city’s main water trunk line that supplies water from Phillips Reservoir.

This work will take place from Monday, March 2 to Friday, March 6, between 7:30 a.m. and 9 p.m. daily.

During this time, the City of Cranbrook and the Interior Health Authority will have a city-wide Water Quality Advisory in effect.

Residents may notice minor water pressure changes, cloudy or discoloured water, and increased turbidity during the inspections. There is also the possibility of elevated manganese levels while this work is underway.

As part of the upcoming Water Quality Advisory, both the Interior Health Authority and the City of Cranbrook are recommending extra precautions for some residents.

Children, seniors, people with weakened immune systems, or anyone who would like additional protection are advised to use boiled water or a safe alternative for drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice, and brushing teeth. To safely boil water, bring it to a rolling boil for at least one minute before use.

The city will continue to closely monitor water quality throughout the advisory period and will share updates with the community as new information becomes available.
