Where laughter and loss walk hand-in-hand

This spring, Cranbrook Community Theatre (CCT) invites you to gather where laughter and loss walk hand-in-hand.

The Cemetery Club by Ivan Menchell, and directed by Patrick Baranowski, is a touching and timeless comedy that follows three spirited widows — Ida, Lucille, and Doris — who meet each month for tea before heading to the cemetery to visit their late husbands.

But when Sam, a warm-hearted widower and local butcher, begins to visit the same graveyard, old routines are disrupted, and new possibilities emerge. As friendship, grief, and romance collide, the women find themselves navigating loyalty, guilt, and the courage it takes to start again.

Performances take place April 25, 26, 27* and May 1, 2, 3, 4* , 8, 9, 10.

Evening shows at 7:30 p.m. | Sunday matinee on April 27 and May 4 at 2 p.m. at the Studio Stage Door, 11-11th Ave South, Cranbrook.

Bringing this story to life is an unforgettable cast: Michelle McCue as sweet, open-hearted Ida; Brenda Burley as fiery, fun-loving Lucille; Jennifer Inglis as the fiercely opinionated Doris; Micheal Grossman as the gentle and endearing Sam; and Leslie Molnar, making a standout CCT debut as Mildred. This all-star lineup promises a performance that will move you, make you laugh, and maybe even make you call an old friend.

This season marks a significant milestone for Cranbrook Community Theatre, celebrating 60 years as a cultural cornerstone in the Kootenays and 50 years as stewards of the historic Studio Stage Door. As part of this celebratory season, CCT proudly revisits audience favourites and hidden gems from its past.
