Amber Alert issued for Calgary girl

The Calgary Police Service has issued an Amber Alert following the abduction of a five-year-old girl July 11, from the 1000 block of Panamount Boulevard in north west Calgary.

Calgary PoliceThe abducted child is Taliyah Leigh Marsman, age 5, a mixed race female, slim build, brown curly hair, and blue eyes. Her clothing is unknown. The child is believed to have been abducted by an unknown person.

A vehicle previous of interest has been located, however the child is still missing, Calgary Police reported this morning.

The abduction followed the murder of the girl’s mother last night.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., on Monday, July 11, police were called to a home in the 1000 block of Panamount Boulevard N.W., after family members of a female resident were unable to reach her. A woman in her 30s was found deceased in the home.

The AMBER Alert was issued by the Calgary Police Service at approximately 1:40 a.m., on Tuesday, July 12. The whereabouts of five-year-old Taliyah Leigh Marsman remains unknown.

Police are speaking with witnesses and persons of interest in relation to this incident. The investigation is ongoing.
