Another failing grade

Letter to the Editor

Once again Mainroad East Kootenay Contracting is not prepared to deal with snow and plowing roads at Wasa. Another failing grade.

This community has plenty of older retired people who have had to wade through 25 cm plus of snow this past week and no plowing of any D class roads.

Here on Ponderosa there are seven homes that use the road to access Highway 93/95 on a daily basis. The access point at Pine Road is choked with snow piled up from highway clearing. It presents a very dangerous situation when trying to make your way from a snow-clogged road onto the highway with the snow accumulation plus the added snow from highway plowing.

On Maple Road there are two older widows. One is over 90 years of age and who drives a small sedan with a four to five inch clearance. They are plowing through snow trying to access the highway. Doing Mainroad’s job. Shame!

Yikes, we still have the rest of winter to go, plus five more years of Mainroad EK ineptitude and mismanagement. The provincial government is complicit in this incredibly poor service for the tax dollars being spent.

Nowell Berg,

Wasa
