Area restriction in effect for Kid Creek area
The BC Wildfire Service continues to respond to the Kid Creek wildfire (N71928), located approximately 20 km northeast of Creston. The size is estimated to be 280 hectares.
In the interest of public and responder safety, this area restriction takes effect immediately and remains in force until the earlier of noon (PDT) on October 15, or until the Order is rescinded.
This Order applies to Crown land within the geographic boundaries described below and as outlined on the above/right map:
Commencing at the intersection of Kid Creek East FSR at the Gas Line heading west following the gas line past kid creek to the intersection with the Goat River FSR, then North along the Goat River FSR to South Anchor FSR;
Following South Anchor FSR to the height of Land between Goat River and Kid Creek;
Follow the height of land North to Mt Sommerfeld, then follow height of land south east down to the Kid Creek FSR;
Follow the Kid Creek FSR south to the intersection with the South Fork FSR, then south following the height of land between Kid Creek and Hazel Creek to meet Kid Creek East FSR;
Follow Kid Creek East FSR to the point of commencement.
Please note:
Access to the Creston Valley Rod & Gun Club remains open.
Entering into the restricted area through the Creston Valley Rod & Gun Club is prohibited.
Under this Order and section 11(2) of the Wildfire Act, a person must not remain in or enter the restricted area without the prior written authorization of an official designated for the purposes of the Wildfire Act, unless the person:
Enters the area only in the course of:
- Travelling to or from his or her principal residence, that is not under evacuation an order;
- Using a highway as defined in the Highway Act;
- Travelling as a person acting in an official capacity as defined in s.56 of the Wildfire Act;
- Travelling for the purpose of supporting wildfire suppression or enforcement patrol activities.

Failure to comply with Section 11 restricted area requirements may result in a violation ticket for $1,150.
