B.C.’s COVID-19 update for March 21
B.C. March 21 reports 506 new cases of COVID-19 over the past three days, for a total of 354,084 cases in the province.
* March 18-19: 200 new cases;
* March 19-20: 170 new cases;
* March 20-21: 136 new cases.
The new cases include:
* Interior Health: 168
* Fraser Health: 114
* Vancouver Coastal Health: 74
* Northern Health: 52
* Island Health: 98
There are 271 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19 and 49 are in intensive care.
In the past 72 hours, eight new deaths have been reported, for a total of 2,974.
There has been one new health-care facility outbreak at Selkirk Seniors Village (Island Health), for a total of eight facilities with ongoing outbreaks.
As of Monday, March 21, 90.8% (4,525,281) of eligible people five and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 87.0% (4,338,756) have received their second dose.
In addition, 93.4% (4,329,544) of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, 91.0% (4,216,654) received their second dose and 57.0% (2,644,222) have received a third dose.
Also, 93.7% (4,054,680) of all eligible adults in B.C. have received their first dose, 91.4% (3,952,512) received their second dose and 58.9% (2,545,653) have received a third dose.
From March 11-17, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 16.8% of cases. From March 4-17, they accounted for 26.1% of hospitalizations.

Since December 2020, the province has administered 11,449,892 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Pfizer Pediatric COVID-19 vaccines.
