The fire, which broke out yesterday evening (June 12), is estimated to be approximately three hectares in size and although it is continuing to produce heavy smoke, it has been contained.

Over 15 firefighters and eight pieces of apparatus have been battling the blaze, which is burning near the intersection of Kikomun Road and Baynes Lake Dump Road.

Firefighters are back on site today dealing with hot spots and will be joined by personnel from the BC Wildfire Service.

No homes or structures are threatened at this time.

The RDEK is once again asking the public to stay out of the area of the wildfire near the intersection of Kikomun Road and Baynes Lake Dump Road near Baynes Lake today.

Firefighters are back on site dealing with hot spots and need clear access to the roads and area to get water and equipment in and out.
