The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) is currently responding to a grass fire near Kootenay River in the Fort Steele area that is putting up some smoke and is visible from the surrounding area.

There are BCWS Response Officers on scene and Initial Attack crews are en route.

The fire (N10250) is located between the Kootenay River and Wardner-Fort Steele Road and is an estimated .009 hectares.
