Two solo art exhibits by Carol Gordon: A Journey of Creativity

In 1970, searching for a more peaceful environment in which to “grow a life,” young artist Carol Gordon immigrated to Canada, leaving behind the political polarization and violence of the 1960s in the United States.

During her first visit to Western Canada the previous summer, Carol experienced a profound sense of calm in the awe-inspiring landscapes; the strength and beauty of the Canadian Rockies; and the warm, welcoming people. That encounter nourished her troubled, creative soul and changed the course of her life.

Over the decades, her creative journey has become a way to express the emotional depths of her lived experience. “My creative process and art that has emerged have been influenced by this beautiful land and its people,” Carol reflects.

To mark this personal and creative milestone, Carol will present more than 60 new watercolor paintings, photographs, and writings in two solo exhibitions this summer:

July 3–30 – Kimberley Centre 64, Kimberley

September 4–27 – Pynelogs Cultural Centre, Invermere

Each exhibition includes an artist talk where Carol will share reflections from her life and creative path, and a hands-on watercolor workshop titled:

 “Creative by Nature: Gently transform your inner world of emotions, thoughts, and memories into expressive, heartfelt art.”

These exhibitions invite visitors to experience the quiet gifts that emerge when we listen to our inner voice and follow where we are called, just as Carol did, more than five decades ago.

Visitors to A Journey of Creativity will experience not only vibrant, expressive artwork, but also the current chapter of her lifetime of inner exploration. Carol’s art is both an offering and an invitation, to pause, reflect, and remember that creativity can be a lifelong journey.
