Cold snap to continue

For those hoping the cold snap would lift, it’s best you batten down the hatches because below average wintery weather is going to continue in the East Kootenay for at least the next week.

Environment Canada reports temperatures in the region will range from daytime highs of -13 C (tomorrow, Dec. 13) and lows of -25 C (Friday, Dec. 16).

Expect Thursday, Dec. 15 to be a ‘snow day’ in the region, with a chance of snow in all areas. There is also a chance of flurries on Dec. 16 in the Elk Valley.

According to Environment Canada, the average low for this time of year in Sparwood is -11.6 C and the average high is -3.7 C. The average low for Cranbrook and area is -10.5 C and the high is -2.9 C. There is no data for Invermere/Columbia Valley.
