Columbia Valley Fire Leadership Seminar a success

Leadership ignited in Invermere this past weekend when the Invermere, Radium Hot Springs, and Columbia Valley Rural Fire and Rescue Service Departments came together to co-host a one-day leadership seminar with renowned author, Fire Service leader and coach Arjuna George.

“It was inspiring to have over 50 fire department members come together for this opportunity,” said Invermere Fire Rescue Chief Jason Roe. “We are all grateful for the chance to learn and strengthen our service.”

Firefighters attended from Edgewater, Fairmont, Invermere, Panorama, Radium Hot Springs, Windermere, as well as from Creston, Fernie, and Sparwood. Sessions included Burnout Prevention, Culture and Team Building, and Self Leadership.

“We were fortunate enough to have lunch provided by the Salvation Army, who used this opportunity to train as well as showcase one of their mobile kitchens available for disaster and emergency response,” said Columbia Valley Rural Fire & Rescue Chief Drew Sinclair. “A very big thank you to them for their support and for delivering an excellent meal on Saturday.”

The leader of the seminar, Arjuna George, is a retired fire chief with over 24 years of dedicated service. Arjuna specializes in Burnout and Resilience Coaching for high performers, including first responders, doctors, nurses, parents, and teachers.

His holistic approach integrates body, mind, and spirit, providing a comprehensive framework for health and resilience.
