Courageous leaders needed for fossil fuel transition

Letter to the Editor

The year 2023 was the hottest on record. From coast-to-coast-to-coast, Canadians faced unprecedented wildfires, flooding, and hurricanes. We’ve also seen a record cost-of-living crisis fueled by corporate greed.

While conservative politicians and fossil fuel CEOs would blame the affordability crisis on climate action, real climate action actually makes life more affordable!

Renewable energy is by far the cheapest source of electricity on the market, and energy efficiency measures like insulation and heat pumps can result in massive household savings. Cheap, clean, renewable energy is the key to a better future.

Many households can’t afford to adopt new climate technologies on their own, which is why we need the federal government to step up and prioritize universal access to real climate solutions!

We need the government to act with courage and lead a just transition away from fossil fuels and into the renewable energy future.
