Cranbrook’s first ever Christmas Comet Count
By Dan Hicks
Cranbrook’s first ever non-annual Christmas Comet Count counts Comet Leonard in as our delightful December dawn apparition – but we can count our comet out for an encore dusk performance – it’s gone forever!
Lead image: Comet Leonard in a dusk desert sky, Tucson, Arizona. December 16, 2021, 18:30 MST. Chris Zurita. (Nikon D3300 camera & Tamron 18-400mm lens at 86mm. f/7.1, ISO 800. Sky tracking – Arduino telescope control on homemade equatorial mount, foreground – single 30-second exposure; 10 sky images stacked in Sequator stacker software & blended with foreground via Photoshop.)
