Dynamiters subdue Rockies in five games
The Kimberley Dynamiters are the 2024/25 Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) Eddie Mountain Division champions after defeating the Columbia Valley Rockies in five games.
The Nitros secured the series with a 4-1 victory at the Kimberley Civic Centre last night.
After giving up the opening goal to Trae Lees of the Rockies in the first period, the Dynamiters responded with four straight goals to clinch the series.
Callan Valstar (Luke Davies, Nick Hughes) tied the game, then Nolan Kelly’s first of the playoffs (Tristan Weill, Jake Briltz) won it for the Dynamiters.
Josh Hager stopped 27 shots for the Dynamiters. Hunter Arntsen stopped 29 of 33 shots in 40 minutes of play, then Ryan Bain saved all 12 shots he faced in the third period for the Rockies.
The Dynamiters went 1one for five on the power-play, and were perfect on the penalty-kill, three-for-three.
Kimberley moves on to play the Neil Murdoch Division winning Grand Forks Border Bruins in the next round of the KIJHL playoffs.
