EKVC celebrates Award Recipients for 2023 season

East Kootenay Volleyball Club (EKVC), a leading organization striving to create meaningful growth and development within the volleyball community, is thrilled to announce and congratulate the recipients of the Serve & Succeed and Community SPIKE Awards for the 2023 season.

These exceptional athletes have demonstrated remarkable dedication, sportsmanship, and service to EKVC, their fellow athletes, and the community at large.

Chloe Quaife

The Serve & Succeed award, which recognizes current EKVC athletes who have achieved post-secondary athletic recruitment in the sport of volleyball, has been presented to two individuals: Jackson Hanson and Chloe Quaife. Both Jackson and Chloe have consistently showcased their commitment to the sport and have been instrumental in supporting EKVC’s mission.

Jackson Hanson (pictured above) expressed his gratitude: “My volleyball journey began when I joined the U13 boys team. Over the next five years, I was extremely fortunate to have amazing coaches and teammates who brought skills and talents that helped develop me as a better person, on and off the court.”

Chloe Quaife, shared her heartfelt appreciation, stating, “I am beyond thankful to be a recipient of this EKVC Serve & Succeed Award. I’ve been playing with the East Kootenay Volleyball Club since U-13 and have loved every minute of it. EKVC has offered some unforgettable experiences and lifelong friendships that I will cherish forever. Thank you to everyone that has helped me get to where I am, and I look forward to seeing what the future holds.”

EKVC is also delighted to recognize Abigail Honeyman and Tessa Portman as the recipients of the Community SPIKE Awards.

These awards honour EKVC athletes who exemplify sportsmanship, performance, integrity, knowledge, and excellence. Abigail and Tessa have consistently exhibited exceptional leadership skills and have made significant contributions to EKVC, their fellow athletes, schools, and the community.

Abigail Honeyman expressed her gratitude, saying, “I have been a part of the East Kootenay Volleyball Club since 2018, and I am beyond grateful for all the opportunities and memories this sport has brought me.”

Tessa Portman, reflecting on her journey, stated, “I have been a part of EKVC for five years. To say I have learned a lot would be an understatement. I owe our provincial win to Alex and Allie Whittingham for our success of U16.”

EKVC would like to extend its warmest congratulations to Jackson Hanson, Chloe Quaife, Abigail Honeyman, and Tessa Portman for their achievements and contributions to the sport. Their passion, dedication, and outstanding character serve as an inspiration to athletes everywhere.
