EKVC Service Award Recipients for 2022
The East Kootenay Volleyball Club (EKVC) would like to congratulate Winter Knudsgaard and Jordyn Andersson for being the recipients of EKVC’s Service Award this year.
The EKVC Service Award is awarded for exemplary leadership, sportsmanship, and service to the support of EKVC, fellow athletes and the volleyball community.
Knudsgaard has been playing with EKVC since U13 and every year she fell more in love with the sport and her team.
Knudsgaard said, “I have been super fortunate to have been coached by some amazing people over the years, with a special shout out to Hayley Hills and Clint Dolgopol who really sparked the idea in me to try to play post-secondary volleyball and who always pushed me to the best of my ability. I love how inclusive the sport is and how involved everyone always is no matter what their position is on the team.
“I’m so grateful that I got to grow up playing with EKVC and I’m super happy that I’ll get to continue playing in Cranbrook for the next few years. Lastly, I would like to say a huge thank you to the EKVC board for choosing me to be this year’s recipient of the Service Award.”

Andersson has been playing volleyball since she was 12 years old. She said, “Over the years I have been given many opportunities to work with a variety of coaches and teammates. Because of EKVC I have been able to play the sport I love outside of the school season and have had the experience of larger tournaments such as provincials and nationals through Volleyball Alberta.
“It was through EKVC that I learned about opportunities such as BC summer games and a variety of camps. The club has provided me with a community of like-minded athletes who, like myself, strive for excellence at every opportunity. I have developed motivation that was useful both on and off the court.
“Outside of simply playing volleyball, I have been an active part in the volleyball community through both coaching and refereeing, which I plan on continuing with in the upcoming years. I am thankful for the experiences that the East Kootenay Volleyball Club has offered me and can’t wait to see what comes next.”
EKVC has been offering Awards to athletes since 2012. EKVC welcomes athletes throughout the East Kootenay from Elkford, Sparwood, Fernie, Creston, Invermere, Golden, Kimberley, Cranbrook, and region.
Established in 1997, the club strives to create meaningful growth and development to its athletes and coaches. This is accomplished by building the Clubs’ capacity to encourage volleyball involvement across the region.
