Evacuation Order rescinded for Fenwick Road Area
The Evacuation Order for the Fenwick Road area along the Kootenay River was lifted effective 9 p.m. Nov. 29.
The Order has been RESCINDED for five properties on Fenwick Road, including 2625, 2627, 3607, 3664, and 3611.
“The Order was put in place earlier today, following a train derailment along the Kootenay River. Multiple agencies responded to the incident, including CPKC, Transport Canada, RCMP, and CP Police, among others,” said Regional Emergency Operations Centre Director, Christina Carbrey.
“This evening, following further assessment, response agencies have confirmed that there is no longer a risk to the public, allowing residents to return home.”
The Evacuation Order has been in effect since 12:30 p.m. November 29. A copy of the Rescind and associated map can be found on the Evacuation Alerts and Orders page on www.rdek.bc.ca.
“Residents and travellers on Fenwick Road are asked to exercise caution in the coming days as CPKC will have equipment and vehicles utilizing the road during their clean-up efforts,” added Carbrey.
