Fight continues in Silver Basin

BC Wildfire Service continues to take on the Silver Basin wildfire located near and partially in Bugaboo Provincial Park, west of Brisco.

Firefighters are attacking the fire, which is now 462 hectares, with aerial support.

“This wildfire is located in very difficult and mostly inaccessible terrain at approximately 2,000m elevation. Crews will be working the north flank of the fire, which is the only accessible terrain. This fire is located in the backcountry and is not currently threatening any structures,” BC Wildfire Service reported.

The RDEK issued an Evacuation Alert on August 30 due to this out-of-control wildfire.
