First snowfall advisory of the season issued
Mainroad East Kootenay Contracting today (Oct. 9) issued a weather advisory warning of incoming snowfall anticipated for much of the region.
Mixed precipitation is forecasted to begin late Saturday (Oct. 11) evening in the Elk Valley, turning into light snowfall Sunday morning, with anticipated accumulations of up to five cm. Temperatures are expected to drop Saturday evening to -5 and remain below zero until Tuesday.
In the Cranbrook/Kimberley/Yahk areas heavy rainfall is forecasted to begin Saturday evening with rainfall amounts forecasted up to 15mm. Light rain will continue into Sunday and turning into light snowfall Sunday night, with up to one cm of snow accumulation forecasted.
Milder weather is expected for Columbia Valley with rainfall beginning Saturday with up to 15 mm forecasted. Rain will continue into Sunday with up to four mm forecasted.
