Fort Steele Heritage Town is bringing back ‘Saturday Night on the Town,’ featuring dinner and an evening train ride.

The Fort Steele steam train – the 1077 – is an amazing piece of history that draws thousands of visitors to the area.

However, making the 100-year-old steam train available for viewing and rides comes with a cost and Fort Steele is looking to the regional business community for sponsorship opportunities.

The train comes at a “significant cost to the Fort to maintain and operate. In fact, it is nearly impossible to break even on this attraction without also charging exorbitant prices. As a local non-profit organization, it is not only important that we cover our operating costs, but to also to provide unforgettable experiences at a reasonable cost to the local community,” Fort Steele stated on its Facebook page.

Fort Steele is looking to the business community of the East Kootenay to partner in making a Saturday Night on the Town community celebration.

The evening will consist of dinner in the International Hotel, followed by a spectacular evening train ride on the 1077.
