Four local golf pros among top 100 for development

The PGA of BC recently recognized the 2025 Career & Professional Development Top 100, as determined by the season-long Professional Development Program, and four East Kootenay pros have made the cut.

Simon Jones of Purcell Golf, Cindy Soukoroff with St. Eugene Golf Resort & Casino and Scott McClain and Brian Schaal with Copper Point Golf Club are among the top performers in the 2025 Professional Development Program.

The Association is thrilled to announce Ryan Tofani (Sandpiper Golf Course) as the top performer in the 2025 program, marking Tofani’s second consecutive season earning the most points. Tofani showed a consistent dedication to bettering himself as a professional through an unwavering commitment to industry education. Tofani’s leading campaign was also bolstered by his significant volunteer contributions to the PGA of BC.

The PDP points race acknowledges PGA of BC Professionals who make outstanding contributions to the Association, their communities, the province’s golf industry and, most importantly, themselves. The PDP provides an avenue to showcase and reward the diverse strengths of PGA of BC Professionals by crediting their participation in continuing education, the Association’s annual Trade Show, and various forms of volunteerism.

Tofani pointed to the vast assortment of educational opportunities within the industry as the key to his success in the Professional Development Program and encourages his peers to expand their educational networks.

“I try to take in as many of the courses we offer, along with others outside the PGA of BC, as I can. It allows me to stay connected with the industry in all aspects, and I think more importantly it allows me to continue to grow as a golf professional and as a team leader,” said Tofani.

“There seems to be more and more Professional Development opportunities on offer. Our Association offers so many great learning experiences, but I would encourage members to venture outside of our walls. The PGA of Canada, Golf Genius Webinars, NGCOA Experiences, and countless more as well. There are many ways to further educate yourself within the business of golf that you can then take back to your club, it will make you a better & more well-rounded professional.”
