Friday Highways report for the East Kootenay

For those heading out or coming into the East Kootenay this weekend, here is a look at what you might expect on regional highways.

Many areas of the East Kootenay are experiencing rain and sleet at this time (2:45 p.m., Feb. 1), or snow at higher elevations. Temperatures are anticipated to drop pushing through the weekend so please be aware of rapid road condition changes. At time of publication there was no special information on DriveBC covering Highway 43 and Highway 3 from Alberta to Fernie.

SPECIAL NOTE: High avalanche hazard between Revelstoke and Golden has closed Highway 1. Estimated time of re-opening is 10 p.m. PST.

Kootenay Pass/Highway 3: Compact snow from 14 km east of Salmo to Creston. Watch for slippery sections.

Highway 3/93: Winter driving conditions between Cranbrook and Elko.

Highway 3: Winter driving conditions between Elko and Fernie

Highway 3/95: Winter driving conditions between Yahk/Curzon Junction and Cranbrook.

Highway 93/95: Winter driving conditions between Highway 3 and one km south of Canal Flats.

Highway 93 (Highway 3 to Montana border): Winter driving conditions.

Highway 93: (Radium Hot Springs to the Alberta border): Compact snow. Watch for slippery sections.

Highway 95 (Highway 3 to Idaho border): Winter driving conditions.

Highway 95 (Radium Hot Springs to Golden): Slushy with slippery sections.

Highway 95A: Winter driving conditions between Highway 3/Cranbrook to Kimberley and through to Highway 93/95 junction.
