Get Used To It
Cranbrook musician and writer Doug Mitchell (pictured above) always has a firm finger on the pulse of today when it comes to his work.
His latest work, Get Used To It, certainly reflects some of what we’ve been all been experiencing during the fire season of 2018. Of interesting note, he wrote the piece last year.
Mitchell is currently working with Neve Studios in Wycliffe to add percussion and fiddle to the song and is hoping to get it to CBC and the local radio stations next week.
Get Used To It
From the Caribou to Koocanusa
The weatherman says we’d better get used to
More smoke, more heat
No rain for weeks
Better get used to it folks
Better get used to it folks.
Get your things together
Listen to the weather reports
Evacuation could be in order
If the fires get worse
More wind, more heat
No rain for weeks
Better get used to it folks
Better get used to it folks.
From Tuscany to Tuscaloosa
Scientists warn we’d better get used to
More floods, hard rains
More hurricanes
Better get used to it folks
Better get used to it folks.
Whether you believe it or whether you don’t
Our weather is changing and it ain’t no hoax
Doesn’t much matter which way you vote
We’re going to have to learn to cope
With more smoke, more heat
No rain for weeks
Better get used to it folks
Better get used to it folks.
People will be coming from drought stricken nations
Migrating north to escape starvation
Better get ready to open our borders
Better get ready for a whole new normal
More smoke, more heat
More refugees
Better get used to it folks
Better get used to it folks
More floods, hard rains
More hurricanes
Better get used to it folks
Better get used to it folks.
Climate change ain’t no joke
Better get used to it folks.
