Global Animal Lovers holding Halloween Howler
Global Animal Lovers is presents its first-ever Halloween Howler – a fundraiser to help animals in need.
The Oct. 31 event will be a fun evening of Halloween tricks, treats and more! We’ll have games, activities, professional photographers, fire, hot chocolate and loads more! The event is definitely family-friendly, so bring the kids!
The event will run from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at 4950 Stoddart Creek Road. If you’re coming from Invermere, turn left at the Setetkwa Golf Course sign and follow the signs to the Howler! If you’re coming from Radium Hot Springs, turn right at the Setetkwa sign.
Global Animal Lovers’ (GALs) main focus is to help curb the global pet over-population issue by being involved with spay and neuter clinics around the world.
“We volunteer at clinics, fund-raise and collect supplies necessary for these clinics to continue! We also help in placing animals that have nowhere to go after these clinics. Spay and neuter! It is the only answer to our global problem of the ever-growing pet population,” they state on their website.
When able, GALs takes in ‘urgent’ dogs through requests from various shelters in Canada. All dogs taken in are spayed/neutered and vaccinated prior to finding fabulous forever homes! Some of the GALs are regular foster homes for animals from various rescues and shelters across Canada . The numbers of animals finding themselves in shelters is staggering and there is only so much room and only so many funds available. Please remember that most of these programs/places do not get any government funding; no amount is too small to donate to your favourite spay and neuter task force, SPCA, rescue group, shelter, humane society, etc. We need to help keep these vital programs and safe places operating and support the people that work tirelessly to help those that cannot speak for themselves!
Our friends, the Pimentel family in Cancun, Mexico have over 100 street dogs at any given time that are all searching for forever homes, too! All dogs are spayed/neutered and vaccinated at intake. Please visit www.tierradeanimales.org to take a look at the huge difference one family is making!
Ever since Gals founders Amber Schick and Cindy Hopper started doing this about a year ago, they have successfully re-homed over 50 animals, mostly dogs, but a few cats, a turtle, some hamsters and a small pack of pet rats.
“They have helped feed starving horses, and helped pet owners pay vet bills and for food, so all-in-all, just a nice bunch of ladies,” noted friend Jill Pawlyshyn.
Donations will be gratefully accepted at the event.
