Green candidate rallies young voter support in Fernie

On Saturday, September 28, Kerri Wall, the BC Green Party candidate for Kootenay-Rockies, officially launched her campaign for MLA at an intimate and lively event at Bramasole Restaurant & Wine Bar in Fernie.

The event, titled ‘Campaign & Cake,’ brought together community members to celebrate Kerri’s birthday while diving into meaningful discussions about the future of Kootenay-Rockies.

With a focus on engaging young adult voters, the highlight of the event was an engaging conversation between Wall and her 27-year-old son, Nakoda Mason.

Nakoda asked his mom candid questions on issues that resonate with younger generations, such as housing affordability, climate change, and the need for greater voter participation among young adults. The conversation sparked a broader discussion on how the BC Green Party plans to address these critical issues in the upcoming election.

“I know firsthand how challenging it is for young adults to find affordable housing and make a sustainable living in our region,” Wall said during the discussion. “I’m running to ensure that everyone, including the younger generation, has a voice in shaping the future of Kootenay-Rockies.”

The event also featured a presentation from Wall who spoke passionately about the BC Greens being the true home for progressive voters seeking long-term solutions and real change.

Her presentation touched on BC Green Party issues such as healthcare, climate action, housing affordability, and sustainable economic development. Attendees participated in a Q&A session, where Kerri addressed questions about her qualifications as a leader and her plans for creating positive change as the next MLA.

Guests were treated to appetizers, cupcakes, and a signature BC Green Party cocktail/mocktail while mingling with Kerri and her campaign team. The event closed with a successful call to action, where attendees pledged their support by signing up to volunteer, making donations, and committing to vote.

“The energy in the room was fantastic,” said one attendee. “It was inspiring to see a candidate so committed to addressing the needs of young people while also understanding the broader concerns of our community.”

Space was limited to 30 guests, ensuring an intimate and focused atmosphere. The event successfully generated enthusiasm and support for Kerri’s campaign, with many attendees signing up as volunteers and committing to spread the word about the BC Green Party’s message of positive change.
