RCMP this afternoon (August 26) confirmed that Highway 3/93 was closed east of Cranbrook today after a deceased person was found at the side of the road at about 9:20 a.m.

Cpl. Mike Haskov of BC RCMP E Division, Traffic Services, stated: “East Kootenay Traffic Services, Cranbrook RCMP and the BC Coroners’ Service are continuing with the investigation. No further information is being sought from the public and no further information is available. A media release is not anticipated.”

No other details were provided.

Highway 3/93 was closed about 10 km east of Cranbrook until about 2:30 p.m. while police conducted an investigation.
