If you have not come here yet, don’t
Columbia River-Revelstoke MLA
I think it is important that people understand that no matter what community they live in, COVID-19 is there.
Knowing that people must adhere faithfully to prevention protocols. Self isolation and social distancing along with hand washing and not touching the face are imperative.
I am very concerned about the influx of people from other provinces coming into my riding and our communities. From what I have witnessed so far many of these visitors somehow feel that there is no issue here, which is not only irresponsible but dangerous behaviour.
As an example: going to natural hot springs on mass then returning into our communities afterwards is putting people at risk. I have had constituents tell me that those visitors are also in our grocery stores coughing and sneezing. As the MLA my demand of them is simple. If you have not come here yet, don’t. If you are here, self isolate, immediately.
With confirmed cases now in the riding the risk is for continued spread is real. With populations from other provinces added to the risk curve the potential for our hospitals becoming overwhelmed is very alive as well as putting stress on supplies in our grocery stores and pharmacies.
We all need to do our part and take this crisis seriously. We are the masters of our destiny but we have to do exactly what the experts are telling us to do. Susan and I are hunkered down at home and working from there. We make sure that contact with others is minimal and when we do all protocols are followed. Please if you can donate to our food banks, and if you are concerned about your health start by calling 811.
I am posting regularly, verified factual information on my social media pages so please follow ‘@ClovechokforCRR’.
Our offices are closed but we are all working from home and are answering voice mails and emails. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have questions or concerns. Aside from COVID-19 we continue to work on all the usual issues that present daily so please know as far as our service to you nothing has changed with the exception of physical office closures.
Stay safe and healthy and let’s be kind to one another. We are mountain people, country strong, and hard to break.
