Kootenay Investment Challenge first pitch event Oct. 13
Join Kootenay region entrepreneurs as they participate in the first pitch event of the Kootenay Investment Challenge.
This event will take place on Thursday, October 13, from 5- 7 pm MST utilizing the virtual venue platform, Hopin.
The Kootenay Association for Science and Technology (KAST) has brought the Kootenay Investment Challenge to our region in partnership with Spring Activator, Volition, and Valhalla Private Capital. The Kootenay Investment Challenge has been made possible with funding from the Rural Dividend Fund.
The Kootenay region is a hotbed of entrepreneurs developing new technologies and innovations. Many outstanding companies have their roots in our area and are looking to grow and expand with investment. We also have an incredible group of investors looking to make an impactful investment into the growth of our local businesses and economy. The design of this Challenge will bring together regional investment-ready tech entrepreneurs with investors looking to have an impact on the local startup community.
The Challenge will guide competing founders through the process of seeking investor funding, from developing their pitches to compiling the required financial and business documents. The investor cohort will learn how to conduct thorough due diligence, angel and regional investing, business valuation, and more.
The initial pitch event for the Kootenay Investment Challenge will include pitches, a fire-side chat, and networking. Attendees will have a chance to learn more about the uniqueness of seeking investor funding in the Kootenays through a fire-side chat with two locals who have experienced the process both as an investor and an entrepreneur. The night will cap off with the announcement of the top three to four companies selected to continue with the Challenge.
“We are excited to showcase these entrepreneurs to investors across the Kootenay region. It has been wonderful watching these business founders grow through the Investment Readiness Training, and we look forward to celebrating their accomplishments in participating and pitching. We hope the public will join us for the virtual pitch event on Thursday, October 13!” stated Melanie Fontaine, KAST Executive Director.
KAST is thrilled to bring this opportunity to the Kootenay region and cordially invites all public members to join this online event. Meet our fantastic entrepreneurs and help cheer them on as they pitch their companies and visions!
