Local KIJHL clubs face busy weekend

One month into the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) season and the Kimberley Dynamiters remain the cream of the Eddie Mountain Division crop.

With seven games played, the Nitros boast a six win, one loss record and hold a five point lead over second place Creston Valley Thunder Cats (3-3-1 tie) and Fernie Ghostriders (3-3-1 OTL).

The Columbia Valley Rockies are locked into fourth place with a 2-4-2 (ties) record.

And the Golden Rockets bring up the Eddie Mountain Division rear with a one win, six losses and one tie record (three points).

All three East Kootenay teams are in action this Thanksgiving weekend.

Kimberley is in Spokane this evening (Friday, Oct. 6) to take on the 3-3-1-2 Braves, while the Rockies are in Fernie to take on the Riders.

On Saturday, Oct. 7, Fernie heads to Castlegar to take on the Rebels, currently in the Neil Murdoch Division basement, while the Dynamiters bus to Grand Forks for a clash with the high-scoring Border Bruins, while the Rockies host the Thunder Cats at the Eddie Mountain Memorial Arena, with game time at 7 p.m.

KIJHL game in Elkford

On Oct. 13 the Rockies and Ghostriders head to Elkford for a 7:30 p.m. tilt at the Elkford Arena.

Kimberley hosts the Border Bruins at the Civic Centre at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 13.

The Border Bruins head to Fernie for a 7:30 p.m. tilt against the Ghostriders on Saturday, Oct. 14. And the Rockies host the Beaver Valley Nitehawks at 7:30 p.m. at the Eddie.
