More than $60k in grants awarded to local groups

New community investment program embraces the power of local to fuel progress and growth in the Kootenay and Boundary regions

Eighteen different non-profit community groups and initiatives in the Kootenay and Boundary regions have been awarded a StellerImpact community grant, ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 – totalling $64,000.

The new grant program supports community-focused projects and initiatives in the centres served by StellerVista Credit Union, including Cranbrook, Elkford, Fernie, Sparwood, Castlegar Slocan Park, Greenwood, and surrounding areas.

“There are so many people and projects making an impact in the places we live, and it’s in our DNA to help them succeed whenever possible,” said Jody Burk, CEO of StellerVista. “No project is too big or small. The credit union is excited to financially support these initiatives as they build our community and advance the quality of life we are all fortunate to experience and enjoy living where we do.”

The StellerImpact grant program accepts applications from July to September each year and is designed to fund impactful projects taking place in the Kootenay and Boundary regions of BC. Organizations interested in applying for the next round of StellerImpact grants can begin to apply in July 2024.

More information about the grants awarded will be shared online as the projects get going.
