Nitros lead Riders entering game three tonight
The Kimberley Dynamiters hold a two-game lead in the best of seven Kootenay International Junior Hockey League Eddie Mountain Division Finals against the Fernie Ghostriders.
The Dynamiters won both games at the Civic Centre March 20 and 21.
Game one was a 5-2 victory with Jaden Rusznak leading the Dynamiters with two goals (7) and set up Jake Murdoch’s winner 6:39 into the third period.
Goalie Adam Kisilevich stopped 15 of the 17 shots to earn the win, allowing the opening goal to Ben Skarsen midway through the second period and he set up another. Kael Svenson made 30 saves for the Ghostriders.
Luke Davies and Carter Coutu each had two assists for Kimberley.
The Nitros put the pedal down in game two, skating to a 7-1 victory.
Jaden Rusznak led the Dynamiters with a goal (8) and four points, as he assisted on Luke Davies’ winning goal.
Adam Kisilevich stopped 25 of 26 shots, allowing a goal to Stephen Jones 3:31 into the second period.
The Dynamiters enjoyed a balanced attack with seven scorers. Leo den Besten allowed three goals on 15 shots in 30:58 of action, then Kael Svenson stopped 15 of 19 shots.
Fernie hosts Kimberley in game three this evening (March 23) at the Fernie Memorial Arena (game time 7 p.m.)
Game four is Tuesday, March 24 in Fernie at 7 p.m.
If necessary, game five is set for Friday, March 27 at 7 p.m. in the Kimberley Civic Centre.
