Nominations open for 30 Under 30 campaign

Joint initiative celebrates young changemakers as part of Columbia Basin Trust’s 30th anniversary

JCI Kootenay, in partnership with Columbia Basin Trust, is launching 30 Under 30—a campaign recognizing 30 inspiring individuals aged 30 and under who are making a meaningful difference across the Columbia Basin.

“We know there are many people in this region doing extraordinary things—often without much recognition,” said Daniel Crema, Chair of the 30 Under 30 Committee and JCI Kootenay board member. “This campaign is about honouring their work, sharing their stories, and celebrating the diverse ways young people are shaping the future of the Basin.”

Created in alignment with the Trust’s 30th anniversary, the campaign will celebrate young leaders who are strengthening their communities through entrepreneurship, volunteerism, environmental action, education, arts and culture, Indigenous leadership, civic engagement and other forms of community involvement.

“Nurturing young leaders and celebrating their contributions is an important part of building strong communities,” said Johnny Strilaeff, President and CEO, Columbia Basin Trust. “As we mark our 30th anniversary, we’re proud to support this initiative that shines a light on young changemakers who are leading with passion and purpose.”

Nominations are open until July 15. Individuals can nominate themselves or others. Nominees must be age 30 or younger as of December 31, 2025, and live, work or study in the Columbia Basin.

Finalists will be selected by a panel of Basin residents based on demonstrated excellence in one or more of the following areas: impact, innovation, leadership, community engagement, volunteerism and entrepreneurial spirit. Nominees are not expected to meet all criteria but should stand out for their commitment and contribution to community well-being.

The 30 selected individuals will be honoured at a formal celebration in September. Their stories will also be shared through a regional social media campaign and a commemorative publication.
