Overtime victory propels Ghostriders past Rockets

The Fernie Ghostriders are heading to the second round of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League playoffs, needing an overtime victory in game six to knock aside the Golden Rockets.

Jaden Piper led the Ghostriders with a pair of goals in the 5-4 series clinching game.

Leo den Besten stopped 22 of 26 shots for the win. Stephen Jones had two assists for Fernie, including setting up the OT winner.

Beck Boiteau was busy in the Rockets net making 41 saves, including stopping the 18 shots he faced in the first period. Alexander Kwong set up two goals for the Rockets.

With the win, the Ghostriders will now face the Kimberley Dynamiters in the Eddie Mountain Division Final.
