Parker’s Nature
By Shawn Parker
We ran into this herd of about a dozen rams up Bull River. There were two ‘groups’ of them within about 50 feet. There was one older group with fairly large curls then a younger one with smaller curls, almost like bent spikes. They let me get pretty close to them. For wildlife viewing, if you’re not that much into hiking, take a spin up Bull River Road. You don’t need a four wheel drive, and the variety of wildlife up there is amazing. Keep your eyes: 1) on the sky for eagles and vultures; 2) on treetops for eagles; 3) look in ravines and fields for large game such as elk, deer, moose, bear and the like all the while keep your eyes on the road!
You lose cell service after a few miles so make sure you have gas and a trustworthy vehicle. It also helps if you don’t drive like a mad idiot, let’s show a little respect.
