Premier’s statement on B.C. Day
Letter to the Editor
B.C. Day gives us all a chance to celebrate living in spectacular British Columbia.
British Columbia is a place of extraordinary natural beauty with a bounty of natural resources. We are home to warm, hard-working people who look after one another.
This B.C. Day is different from the ones we have celebrated before. We face unprecedented economic threats in a rapidly changing world. These challenges make it more important than ever for British Columbia to transform our advantages into action and assume our responsibility to become the economic engine of Canada’s new economy. We have the resources the world needs, the ports to make the delivery and the amazing people to make it work.
We will do our part to help Canada stand strong.
We’re going to do so while protecting the natural beauty of our home for generations to come. We share this land with First Nations who have lived here for millennia, and we are committed to working toward reconciliation and implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples in collaboration.
British Columbia is home to people who choose to come here from around the world. No matter where we come from, how we pray or who we love, we’re working together to build a peaceful and prosperous province where everyone has the opportunity to build a good life.
Whether you spend the day camping, on the water or at the beach, or you decide to relax at home with family and friends, I hope you make the best of the day.
Happy B.C. Day!
Premier David Eby
