Prison escapee and accomplice arrested in Revelstoke

Alberta RCMP report that a prison escapee as well as an accomplice have been arrested by BC RCMP in Revelstoke.

On April 29, 2025, Red Deer RCMP was advised by the Alberta Justice Centre that a remanded prisoner, 24-year-old Mackenzie Dawn Hardy, had been inadvertently released due to fraud on April 25.

Red Deer RCMP investigated and determined that 27-year-old David Joseph Wood conspired with Hardy and assisted with the fraudulent release. On May 23, an arrest warrant was issued for Wood.

On May 27, a patrol officer with Revelstoke RCMP observed two individuals recognized as Hardy and Wood walking away from a stolen vehicle. Officers contained the area and detained both suspects.

RCMP have charged David Joseph Wood with: Assisting escape of prisoner; Identify fraud; and Uttering a forged document.

On top of Hardy’s outstanding warrants, she has additionally been charged with Escaping Lawful Custody.

Both Hardy and Wood have been taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody. They will be transported back to Alberta where they will be brought before the Alberta Courts regarding future court dates.
