Red Cross wildfire outreach coming to region

Thanks to the generosity of Canadians and the Government of B.C., the Canadian Red Cross continues to provide assistance to individuals and communities impacted by the 2018 wildfires.

Red Cross community outreach teams will continue to meet with individuals and families who were evacuated due to the 2018 wildfires and who are in need of assistance.

Through confidential one-on-one assessment Red Cross is able to provide referrals to support services and may be able to provide financial assistance for basic needs such as food, clothing, medical supplies, fridges, freezers and fuel to heat homes.

Red Cross community outreach teams will be in the East Kootenay tomorrow, Tuesday, Jan. 22 at the Sparwood Fire Department, 479 Pine Ave., Sparwood from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and at the Kimberley Conference + Athlete Training Centre, 510 North Star Road from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and again on Jan. 23 (same time and location).

An outreach team will be at the Columbia Valley Chamber of Commerce, 651 Hwy 93, Invermere on Thursday, January 24 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Any individuals or families who were, or remain, evacuated due to the 2018 wildfires, and are in need of assistance with basic needs, are encouraged to meet with outreach teams during the times above.

Please check this website regularly for updates as locations are added. Please remember to bring valid B.C. photo identification.
