The following is a summary of board motions carried during the March 13 School District No. 5 (SD5) School Board of Trustees’ meeting held in Cranbrook.

Motions Carried

Policy

That Mr. Norum contacts the Ministry of Education to gather bussing information and strategies to refer back to the Policy Committee in April.

That the board refers the revised Policy 5.4 Student Eligibility for Bus Service to the Policy Committee in April.

Finance Ops

That the board refers the Financial Health Tool Kit item to the March 13 Public Board Meeting.

General

That the board approves the letter of March 14, 2018 drafted by Chair Frank Lento in response to Hon. Fleming’s letter of January 30, 2018 re: the Annual Five Year Capital Plan and Isabella Dicken Elementary School (pictured above).

That the board writes a letter to the Minister of Education indicating their profound disappointment at the lack of trustee representation in the K-12 Public Education review process.

That the Jaffray School PAC emails input for 2018/19 Budget be received and included in the budget presentation package.

The board approved three readings and then adopted the Election Bylaw, subject to the BCSTA input.
