SD5 Board Notes

The following is a summary of board motions carried during the May 8 School District No. 5 (SD5) School Board of Trustees meeting held in Cranbrook.

Motions Carried

Advocacy

That the board writes a letter to the Premier of Nova Scotia in support of the Canadian School Boards Association (CSBA)’s letter submission regarding the Province of Nova Scotia’s decision to abolish locally elected school boards.

Policy

That the Board of Education approve draft Policy 3.11 Independent Directed Studies.

That the board receives the board meeting dates for 2018-19.

Finance/Operations

That the board writes a letter to the Ministry of Education to petition for the $382,250 estimated cost for repairs to the Mount Baker Secondary School Drama and Music rooms (pictured above).

That the board approves the travel kilometre rate of .54/km effective May 1.

That the 2018/19 Annual Budget for $62,627,273 be read a first time on May 8.

That the board approves the Travel Expense Allowance Policy 4.2.

That the board approves the Professional Development Policy 4.27.
