Severe Thunderstorm Watch for bulk of region
Environment Canada has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the Columbia Valley (including Golden), Cranbrook, Kimberley and South Country areas of the East Kootenay, as well as Creston.
Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain, Environment Canada stated.
When thunder roars, go indoors! Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging hail, wind or rain.
