Significant snowfall possible: Mainroad
Mainroad East Kootenay Contracting Ltd. is alerting drivers of a winter weather event anticipated to impact the East Kootenay within the next 24 hours.
“We are expecting significant snowfall accumulations starting on Monday night,” it stated in a stakeholder update.
“Mainroad’s meteorological service predicts moderate snow accumulation developing Monday night, with the heaviest snowfall in southern parts of the service area. At this time, we expect the snow to taper off to flurries late on Tuesday.
“All motorists are encouraged to prepare for winter conditions, allow more travel time and drive with extra caution. During and after the event, our crews will apply anti-icing chemicals and/or winter abrasive, and commence snow removal operations as required. This will continue on all highways until the event passes and roadways are returned to the acceptable standard and back to normal.”
