Snowfall alerts for nearby passes
Environment Canada this morning issued snowfall warnings for both nearby Kootenay and Rogers Passes.
Snowfall with total amounts of 15 to 25 cm is expected from Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass from this morning to midnight (March 24).

And snowfall with total amounts of 15 to 30 cm is expected in the Rogers Pass area from now to Wednesday morning.
“A frontal system will bring 15 to 25 cm of snowfall today. Light snow will begin this morning and intensify through the day as the cold front approaches. In the wake of the cold front, the snowfall will ease to a few flurries, however, winds will increase with gusts to 60 km/h,” Environment Canada forecasted.
“Near zero visibility in blowing snow may occur at times. Flurries and blowing snow will end tonight.
“Travel will likely be challenging. Visibility will likely be reduced at times. Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions. Allow extra time for travel. If driving, turn on your lights, slow down and maintain a safe following distance.”
