Snowfall incoming for region
Mainroad East Kootenay Contracting this afternoon issued a snowfall advisory for the entire region.
Mainroad Crews are currently out pre-treating main highways and bus routes ahead of tonight’s forecasted snow event, which will carry into this coming weekend.
Cranbrook Area:
Snow-rain mix is expected to start late this afternoon and clearing off into the early evening. Temperatures are forecasted to stay around +1 for the weekend with evening temperatures dropping to -3 for Saturday night and -14 on Sunday night.
Yahk:
Light snow is beginning this afternoon carrying into the weekend. Snow accumulations for Saturday are expected to be between five to 10cm and Sunday up to five cm. Temperatures are forecast for +1 during the day and -2 for Saturday night and -12 for Sunday night.
Elk Valley:
Snow-rain mix is expected to begin this afternoon and turn to light snow in the early evening. Late Friday night into early Saturday morning there is a chance of fog, with fog breaking with daylight. Saturday accumulations are forecasted to be between five to 10cm and Sunday up to five cm. Temperatures during the day times are -2 and -4 for Saturday night and -14 for Sunday night.
Columbia Valley:
Panorama forecast is expecting between two to four cm over the weekend while accumulations are expected to be one cm for the Columbia Valley. Saturday temperatures are +2 during the day and -2 at night, Sunday is -1 during the day and -12 at night.
