Snowfall warnings for Elk Valley and Kootenay Pass

Environment Canada has issued snowfall warning for the Elk Valley and Kootenay Pass areas.

Snowfall with total amounts of 15 to 25 cm is expected near Fernie from today (Jan. 6) through tonight, as well as for Kootenay Pass to Paulson Summit and Rogers Pass.

Elkford earlier this morning.

A frontal system moving into interior B.C. will bring snow today over southern sections of Elk Valley near Fernie and Sparwood.

“Travel will likely be challenging. Visibility will likely be reduced at times. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions,” Environment Canada stated.
