Strong wind gust alert for the entire region
Environment Canada this morning issued a special weather statement covering the entire East Kootenay, warning about strong and gusty winds expected later today (October 10) and this evening.
Wind gusts up to 60 km/h may toss loose objects and cause drought-weakened tree branches to break. These may give rise to injuries, damages, or power outages, Environment Canada stated.
The winds arrive as a strong cold front sweeps across the southern interior of British Columbia this afternoon.
Ahead of the cold front, moderate southwest winds with possible gusts up to 60 km/h.
As the cold front passes, winds will shift to west or northwest by late afternoon or early evening. These northwest winds will be accompanied with wind gusts up to 60 km/h. The gusty winds will abate tonight.
